A Short Guide To UAE Freelance Visa

If you want to get a residency Visa in UAE and want to set up yourself as a freelancer and conduct business in your name, then the UAE Freelance Visa is the right choice for you. There are many types of Visas the UAE government routinely gives to foreigners who wish to live in the country. One of them is the Freelance Visa. It is meant for sole practitioners or self-employed people who want to work in their own name.

The Choice of Freelancing

Many people today are not satisfied with 9-to-5 jobs and want to work for themselves. But they may not want to start their own local business setup. For them, freelancing can be a choice that brings money and freedom. Living in a country like UAE, with all modern amenities and facilities available, can be a temptation few freelancers are willing to pass up. So getting a Freelancer Visa is a good choice.

Trade License or Freelance Visa?

A trade license will let you set up your own company in UAE, apart from giving you Dubai residence. This enables you to grow your company and also hire people to work in it.

With a Freelance Visa, on the other hand, you will be working on your own. You can even get part-time work in UAE and do that. It is a low-cost way of gaining a residency and maintaining a family in the UAE.

Why Freelance?

There are many reasons why many people choose to freelance in UAE.

  • Flexibility with your time
  • Ability to draw your own schedule
  • Be your own boss
  • Higher profit and fewer expenses than running a business
  • Ability to take work from multiple companies
  • Working from home
  • Build your own credibility and brand

People are living in the UAE based on a parent or a spouse’s work Visa. For them, getting a freelance permit works very well because they can work from home and earn their own money. Balancing work and family also becomes possible this way.

Getting a Freelance Visa in UAE

Apply: You can apply online for your Freelance Visa in UAE with your resume, NOC from your sponsor, bank reference letter, passport, copy of your VISA that is valid for 8 months at least, and a recent photo.

Approval: After you have done the above, you will receive an email saying that you have been approved. This may take up to 15 days. After this, you will have to go and sign all the documents personally after which the Freelance permit will be sent to you.

Complete the Process: Once you have received your freelance permit, you will have to do some procedural things like getting a medical test done. After that, your Visa will be valid for 3 years from the date of the stamp.
